"If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing." - 1 John 1:9
I entered the church early and made my way over to the line. It was just starting to form so it wasn't too long yet. Looking around, I thought I recognized the man who was two persons ahead of me. He was dressed in casual clothes and he sure looked familiar, but I just couldn't put a name with the face. "Good thing he wasn't right next to me," I thought. After all, what would we talk about? Everyone was fairly quiet. Nobody really talking to anyone else. The man in front of me was checking his phone, and we just cordially smiled at one another. Boy, I sure wished I could remember the name of the man two persons ahead of me. Now it was starting to bother me. The line slowly inched forward, each one taking his turn. Then it was time for the man two persons ahead of me. He turned and closed the confessional door behind him. Then I recognized him. He was the priest who presided at Mass the day before. But today he was a sinner like me. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. TAGS: Prayer, Story |
