"... they took palm branches and went out to meet him, and cried out: Hosanna!" - John 12:13 Holy Week is a time set apart in our Church's liturgical year for our spiritual renewal. The word "holy" refers to anything that is set apart for God's purposes. Let this week be a time that is set apart for your spiritual renewal through the suffering, death and Resurrection of Jesus. In her book The Holy Way, Paula Huston explains that “a cluttered and overburdened mental space can be one of the biggest obstacles to simple living.” This Holy Week allow yourself time apart, holy time, to spend with Jesus. May it be a time set apart to unclutter your mind, lay down your burdens, and renew your faith in Jesus. Lord Jesus, as I enter this Holy Week, help me to return to simple living by uncluttering my mind and filling it with love of You. Amen. The doctor was a very nice Oriental woman. Her given name was very pronounceable, I'm sure, in her native language, but not so to our American tongues. Then I saw the name that she used on some paperwork that was handed to me. After some initial anxiety over this ordeal, I now felt an immediate peace and calm fill me. I knew that everything was going to be OK. Her name was Lucy. St. Lucy, patron of the eyes, pray for me and for us. I had trouble with my computer this week. I discovered that the "automatic" updating did not occur since November 2017. So as I worked to solve the problem, my impatience kicked in, and in my impetuousness, I started clicking and pushing buttons instead of waiting for processes to run their course. Well, now my computer was really confused. There was a time when I thought it would never start up again! Then God placed this quote before me: "Upload Prayer, Download Peace". God always manages to place the right words before us at just the right time, if only we would stop and pay attention. Instead of panicking, if I had simply raised myself in prayer, God would have given me His peace. "The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes ..." - John 3:8
Rows of windmills fuel the farms. All of them spinning according to the movement of the wind. Many debate the pros and cons of wind-powered energy, but it is a viable source of energy nonetheless. What fuels you? Wind power (the Holy Spirit)? Solar power (the Son)? Generated power (the Father)? Holy Spirit, fuel me with the fire of your love. Lord Jesus, fuel me with your mercy. Almighty Father, fuel me with your strength. Amen. |
