![]() "I will lead the blind on a way they do not know; by paths they do not know I will guide them." - Isaiah 42:16 When you see a path cutting through the woods, a yard or even a parking lot, don't you wonder where it goes? Have you ever followed one, taking the time to investigate the unknown? Curiosity overcomes you and you just have to check it out. All of life is an adventure. Heading down paths where we've never been before. Maybe you need to find a path. Enter the unknown; and take your imagination with you. What path am I going to walk today: my own, or one where Jesus leads? Jesus, you lead and I will follow. I will let you be my guide. Amen. ![]() "And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church" - Matthew 16:18 Now that's a big rock! This large boulder is solid, immovable, unshakable; a firm foundation. Much like Peter. He was the rock on which Jesus built His church. How big is your rock? What foundation are you standing on? How sturdy is your footing? Lord Jesus, be my rock and my foundation. Let me lean on You when I am tired and weary, weak and in need of rest. Amen. "... and I have filled him with a divine spirit of skill and understanding and knowledge in every craft" - Exodus 31:3
In order to put the stake in, he took all the dirt out, then he put all the dirt back in. Seems silly, doesn't it? Yet isn't that just like our spiritual life? We must empty ourselves so that we can be filled with the Holy Spirit. It isn't easy, and it takes a lot of effort and time. But it is so rewarding as the powdery "soil" is poured back within us. Come, Holy Spirit, fill me with your love, grace and mercy. Amen. "I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing." - John 15:5
There were a few pieces of this vinca vine in a floral arrangement that we received seven years ago. We planted it outside to see if it would grow. And boy did it grow! It has spread plentifully to create a nice ground cover under a shady tree. Each leaf and branch trails back, in some circuitous manner, building upon itself, to the original vine. Staying connected, feeding off of the master, it should live forever. O God, let me always stay connected to you as you feed me with the food needed to sustain me in body, mind and soul. Amen. |
