"Rather, when you are invited, go and take the lowest place so that when the host comes to you he may say, ‘My friend, move up to a higher position.’ Then you will enjoy the esteem of your companions at the table." - Luke 14:10
There's usually one that stands out in a crowd; one who endeavors to draw attention to himself. We are taught to be humble and to take the lowest place at the table.
But isn't that hard? Don't you want the spotlight to be on you? Don't you want to be the "life of the party"? Even just a little? Humility is a virtue. How do you "stop the glow" so that others will respect and admire you for the humility in your heart?
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine! Amen.
